The Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism has notified stakeholders that its independent review team, appointed to review unsuccessful applications for Local and Regional Economic Development (LRED) Fund for the 2018/19 financial year, have begun its work.
The outcome of these requests will be communicated to the applicants who submitted their requests within the 30 calendar days from the day each appellant received the rejection letter.
The review team is made up of outside stakeholders and is convened by Yolanda Bunu who is from SizweNtsalubaGobodo (SNG).
Those who still wish to submit applications for review can direct them to Thabani Ndlovu, provided that the 30 calendar days from the day of receipt of the rejection letter by the appellant intending to apply for review has not lapsed. DEDEAT established the LRED Fund to promote and administer sustainable economic development and employment creation by supporting Eastern Cape-based enterprises that aim to stimulate economic growth of the province.
A framework was designed and a policy was documented, stating how this fund will be administered.
According to the LRED policy, section 14: “Any dispute relating to a decision taken by DEDEAT is limited to one request for a decision review per application lodged, within 30 calendar days of the date of issue of the notification letter by DEDEAT which decision shall be reviewed by an independent review team, appointed by the HOD, that will review all the submitted documents by the applicant.”
